Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.

One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. He could have quit many times - but he didn't and because he didn't quit, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country.

Lincoln was a champion and he never gave up.

In short, it is important that we don’t give up when working for our goals. it was a cloudless day. the warmth of the fall sun made the day seem as if it would be perfect. yes, for me perhaps, but not exactly for the technician who was working on one of my laboratory machines. the technician definitely knew what he was doing and seemed exceptionally qualified except for one thing. he was no electrician. he had found a motor that he identified as being bad. the motor shaft was much too difficult to turn and he had indicated that this was a major problem. "expect two to three days for a new one to arrive," he said.

one thing my frienddidn't understand is that when power is supplied to a generator, it becomes a motor and when mechanical power is applied to a motor, it becomes a generator. during the process of his working on the machine he disconnected the leads to the motor and spun the shaft turning the motor into a generator. disconnecting the leads in effect took the load off the motor, the leads being connected causing the motor not to turn freely. he looked rather perplexed to see the motor shaft spin so freely. for reasons unknown to me, he spun the shaft again and grabbed the wires protrudingfromthe motor. i don't believe i have ever heard quite the string of expletives that this man let flyfromhis mouth. with his eyes widened he had to slap his hand loosefromthe wires as the flow of generated electricity locked the grip of his hand.

now this being funny all by itself, it evidently wasn't funny enough for the technician because he spun the motor and grabbed the leads again. another string of expletives that have never been heard previously by man were unleashed unto the world.

我今天演講的題目是《放飛夢想》。

國徽呈圓形，圓形的中間上方是璀璨奪目的五顆金星，下方是雄偉端莊的城樓，城樓的正下部是一個金色的齒輪，齒輪兩邊的谷穗對稱地向上環(huán)抱，至正中的頂部相合。齒輪的中心又系著兩條紅綢，以一定的弧形伸向兩邊，而后向下垂掛，使圓形的國徽有了堅實(shí)穩(wěn)重之感。國徽的基本色彩是紅黃兩色，顯示出熱烈、美麗、崇高、莊嚴(yán)。

我們中華民族有著悠久的歷史，創(chuàng)造了燦爛的民族文化，為世界文明作出過巨大貢獻(xiàn)。中華民族不但以勤勞勇敢著稱于世，同時又是酷愛自由、畜于革命傳統(tǒng)的民族。具有民族特色的雄偉端莊的城樓正面圖橫貫國徽的中下方，正是象征著中華民族的悠久歷史文化和威武不屈的英姿。

齒輪、谷穗分別象征粉工人階級與農(nóng)民階級。金色的齒輪，仿佛帶動粉業(yè)個國家飛速向前，碩大的谷穗象征著農(nóng)民的豐收和人民的幸福。

國徽上的五顆星，代表在中國共產(chǎn)黨領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下的全國各民族、各階層人民的大團(tuán)結(jié)。共產(chǎn)黨就像燈塔一般指引著前進(jìn)的航向，億萬人民，心心向粉共產(chǎn)黨，堅強(qiáng)團(tuán)結(jié)，眾志成城。

國徽是國家的標(biāo)志，她代表著我們偉大社會主義祖國的尊嚴(yán)，所以我們要愛護(hù)國徽，就像愛護(hù)自己的眼睛一樣！

The tempo of modern civilization has been much quickened in the last twenty years. While witnessing the dramatic changes in the better-off society, people begin to reconsider the question of "survival". "Survival" in the old sense does not bother us anymore. Instead, we are more concerned about how to "survive" in the human world full of competition.

Competition always carries abreast challenges and opportunities to everyone involved. It might appear in an entrance exam, in a regular class, or in a small public speech. Those who fail to detect its real nature-whether an opportunity or a challenge a competition really is- will lose something more or less conducive to our growth. Of course, if we take the competition as an opportunity, we will favor it intentionally because they can help us outstand from the average; they will make us become the focus of public attention; they will grant us more chances and rights to succeed. As a matter of fact, opportunities are supposed to be more perceptible and welcoming than challenges. The truth is, however, we will lose more opportunities when we choose to take the "opportunity" fork at the crossroads. The other fork, ignored by us and defined as "fearful challenges", offers much more chances for the walker in competition.

We have such an inclination in life to overestimate ourselves and hold a thoughtless attitude towards the negative outlook of things.

We believe in the old saying, "Opportunity knocks but just once," so we always welcome it and devote all our spirit and efforts to it. The most devout believer of this saying are the graduates. Why? There are quite a number of them who pay full attention to positions in big cities and are willing to flood into developed areas under any circumstances, even though there will be too much uncertainty for their choices. Innumerable cases go straight to the same miserable end: God seems to refuse to help too many of His worshipers.

In conclusion, to define the quuality of competition seems to be far from valuable sense, for no matter what a competition is, an opportunity or a challenge, it will create nutritious elements for our growth.

So take a positive look at everything around. Keep our face to the sunshine, and we will not see the shadows.
